If you have one of the two Chase/Hyatt co-branded credit cards you may have seen a pleasing email drop into your inbox over the past 24 hours – Hyatt is offering cardmembers a 10% rebate on all award bookings taken by 30 September 2018.

The offer is very simple:

  • Open to Hyatt credit card holders only
  • Register (on this page) by 31 August 2018
  • Use points for free nights, points & cash bookings, upgrades or dining and spa services by 30 September 2018
  • Wait for a 10% point rebate to hit your World of Hyatt account.

The important part of this promotion (apart from the registration bit) is that whatever bookings you make must be completed by 30 September in order to qualify for the 10% rebate.

The terms and conditions specifically say the following:

“If a redemption is connected to a stay, the entire stay must be completed by 9/30/2018”

That would appear to suggest that a stay which starts before 30 September but ends after it will not be eligible for the 10% rebate (not even the portion of the stay that’s within the promotion period).

If you’re in the position where a stay straddles the 30 September deadline you should consider splitting it into two separate reservations to ensure you at least get a rebate on the nights within the promotion period.

Lastly, bear in mind that, as the promotion is offering points in the form of a refund (as opposed to an immediate discount), you will still need to have enough points for a regular award reservation when you come to book.

Bottom Line

This is a nice promotion from Hyatt it’s just a shame it’s limited to Hyatt credit card holders and not all World of Hyatt members.

Still, there’s nothing in the terms and conditions to stop you from applying for the new World of Hyatt credit card and then taking part – the small print says that you have to be a cardholder at the time of fulfilment but there’s no mention of anyone having to be a cardholder at the time of booking.
