I love Amex offers and I’m addicted to checking what (if any) new offers have appeared on my cards on a near daily basis. What can I say? I love the money the offers save me and I love the fact that the offers help me offset the cost of holding my Amex cards in the first place (I love the offers on my fee-free cards even more because that’s just free cash!)

More Membership Rewards Points Offers Than Before

While Amex Offers are probably best known for giving cardholders cash back after spending a set amount at a given participating retailer, store, travel provider etc…, the Membership Rewards earning cards also offer bonus points for hitting a spend target.

Historically I haven’t found these offers to be particularly exciting because they’ve normally been along the lines of “get an extra Membership Reward point per dollar spent”……

…and while there’s nothing wrong with these offers they’re not exactly exciting – you’re unlikely to make a stack of easy Membership Rewards points from these.

But right now Amex appears to be going a little crazy – I don’t remember ever seeing this many Membership Rewards offers on my cards and I don’t remember seeing this many with high bonuses.

Take a look at these:

There’s even a great offer from Best Western:

If by some miracle you actually have a real world use for all those offers (i.e you were buying things you actually wanted or could resell with little to no loss) you would earn an amazing 76,000 Membership Rewards points (more than enough for a Business Class flight to Europe)….and that’s just the offers I was targeted for, there could be even better ones out there!

But there is one offer which stands out as being a very simple way of earning 1,000 Membership Rewards points for a $10 outlay…and that cost assumes you have no use for what you’re buying.

Membership Rewards Points For $0.01

Amex is offering 1,000 Membership Rewards points for just a $10 spend at Dollar Shave Club…..

…and Dollar Shave Club sells gift cards in $10 denominations.

There is no mention of gift cards being excluded in the offer’s T&Cs.

Here are the Terms & Conditions from Amex:

ENROLLMENT/ELIGIBLE CARDS: Must add offer to Card and use same Card to redeem. Only U.S.-issued American Express® Cards that are enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program at the time of purchase are eligible. Your enrollment of an eligible American Express Card for this offer extends only to that Card. Your enrollment does not extend to any other Cards that may be linked to the same Membership Rewards program account (such as Additional Cards). Offer is non-transferable. ELIGIBLE PURCHASES: Offer valid online only at dollarshaveclub.com. Not valid on purchases shipped outside of the US. Purchases may fall outside of the offer period in some cases due to a delay in merchants submitting transactions to us or if the purchase date differs from the date you made the transaction (for example, the purchase date for online orders may be the shipping date). If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the additional points. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, you may not receive the additional Membership Rewards points if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party. EARNING POINTS: Limit 1 enrolled Card per American Express Card online account and limit of 1,000 additional Membership Rewards points per Card. These additional points are in addition to any points you would normally receive for purchases on your Card under the terms of your Card Member Agreement and the Membership Rewards program. When we calculate the additional points benefit for Amex EveryDay® Card products, points awarded under this offer will not be included. Additional points will be credited to your Program account within 90 days after 7/15/2017, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase.

A LOT of people should be able to make use of this.

At least 50% of the population should have a use for something from Dollar Shave Club….and most of the other 50% probably knows someone who could use one or more of the products too.

Even if the gift card never gets used the Membership Rewards points are still being purchased at a very good price…even with my conservative valuation of Amex’s currency.

Amex Travel Offers

While I’m writing about Amex offers I thought I’d highlight some of the travel offers that I can currently across all my American Express cards.

Best Western:

I’ve already highlighted this offer in the section above.

Hilton:

Unsurprisingly, thanks to Hilton’s association with Amex, there are 3 flavours of Hilton offer I can see right now:

I haven’t had time to look at the T&Cs in great detail so it would be interesting to see if the $60 after $300 spend could be stacked with the “20% off your stay” offer.

Omni Hotels & Resorts:

If anyone has seen any other Amex Offers worth mentioning please let us know in the comments section below – thanks.
