Starwood is running a promotion which is offering 40% off every second night at stays in various properties throughout the Americas. There doesn’t appear to be an end date for this promotion in the terms and conditions so it could be around  for some time or disappear as quickly as it appeared.

Thoughts

I’ve seen this promotion incorrectly categorised elsewhere as offering 40% off the second night of a two night stay when, in reality, it offers 40% off every second night of whatever stay you choose to book.

Here’s an example of that at a Starwood property in Scottsdale:

A large number of properties appear to require guests to check-in between Thursday and Saturday to be eligible for this promotion….

…but there are a number of properties at which the promotion is valid for check-ins on any day of the week:

It should be noted that the discount is offered on Starwood’s “best available unrestricted retail rates” which means that guests won’t be getting 40% off the cheapest rate the property offers.

Still, from the searches I’ve performed it looks like there are still reasonable savings to be had.

Taking the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in LA as an example, the 40% discount applied on a stay of two nights looks like this….

While the cheapest regular rate available for the same two nights looks like this:

A $30 saving may not seem like much but on a longer stay it will quickly add up.

Be aware that although the discount being offered is based on a flexible rate, all reservations booked using this promotion are non-refundable.

If your plans are fluid and subject to change I would suggest staying away from this promotion or it could get expensive.

Bottom Line

This could be a nice way to save a bit of cash if your plans are fixed and unlikely to change.

If you’re planning a stay of an odd number of nights it could be worth working out how much an extra night would cost in this promotion as, with 40% off, you may be able to get an extra day on the beach for not too much more than you’ll be paying already.
