American Airlines has come out with its second Asia promotion of the year and this one is not too dissimilar to the first. Flyers can earn up to 60,000 bonus AAdvantage miles when booking qualifying fares for travel on non-stop JAL and American Airlines flights between the US and Asia.

Tactics

If you’re a frequent flyer on these routes you may need to adopt some tactics here.

Because only two round trips will count towards this promotion, if you have more than two round trips booked you should either….

  1. Not register until you have two back to back trips which will maximize your earnings in this promotion.
  2. Only credit the high-earning trips to the AAdvantage program – credit the other trips to another rewards program like Alaska Mileage Plus.

Bottom Line

This is a nice promo if you have travel you have yet to book as existing bookings do not count for this promotion.

Don’t get caught out by booking through JAL, don’t get caught out by booking flights during the blackout dates and don’t get caught out by not ensuring that only your highest earning flights are counted for this promotion.
