Accor Hotels is the group that is best known for brands such as Sofitel and Grand Mercure at the more upscale end of the market, Novotel in the middle of the market and Ibis in the budget range but their reach is far greater than that. The group has recently completed acquisitions of the Fairmont and Raffles hotel groups, it purchased onefinestay in April and is building up a pretty impressive footprint across the globe (although it’s still very “Europe heavy”).

Accor Hotels – The Private Sale

Accor hotels has launched a word wide sale (called “the private sale” despite the fact it appears to be open to everybody) which runs through 4 August 2016.

To be on the safe side it’s probably best to book stays through the suggested link (HERE) although I managed to find sale prices through the usual Accor search facility.

The discounts on offer vary from location to location and look to be pretty good but, unfortunately, it looks like most of the very top hotels the group owns (e.g. Raffles hotels) aren’t participating and neither is the Sofitel at Heathrow T5 (reviewed here) which is usually in very high demand.

A full list of participating hotels can be found via this link.

Not only do the discounts vary from location to location but the dates that discounted rooms are available vary by location too.

  • Some locations require a minimum 2 – 3 night stay

Some Good Deals

How good a deal is will clearly depend on where you’d like to visit and at what time of the year but here are a few deals that I found that I thought were worthwhile:

Sofitel Sydney Wentworth:  17 – 22 December 2016 – $166/night (5* Hotel)

The Kutra Beach Heritage Hotel Bali: 16 – 23 October 2016 – $49/night (5* Hotel)

Accor Hotels Private Sale

Pullman Paris Eiffel Tower: 23 – 26 September 2016 – $204/night (4* Hotel)

Bottom Line

Despite the fact that most of the very top hotels are not participating there’s still value to be had out of this sale…although you have to be prepared to put a bit of work in to find the best deals.

Make sure you check out the terms and conditions carefully so that you’re aware which locations are imposing minimum stay requirements and make sure you know the price of properties outside of the sale dates so you’re fully aware of just how good a deal you’re actually getting – not point in being extra flexible with your dates if the discount isn’t significant.
