The Qatar Airways Qsuite is widely acknowledged to be best Business Class seat in the world but, at the time of writing, it’s only available on flights to 7 of Qatar Airways’ destinations (and not on all flights to those destinations).

There was a flurry of new Qsuites routes announced in February and March as Chicago, Frankfurt and Australia were revealed as future recipients of the enhanced Business Class cabin while Qatar Airways’ CEO used the ITB Travel Fair to hint that Berlin and Munich will soon be getting Qsuites service too.

Qsuites route news has gone a bit quiet in the last month or so but now we finally know which city will be the nest to receive Qsuites service….and it’s not the rumored Berlin or Munich.

From 15 May 2018 Qatar Airways will deploy a Qsuites-fitted 777-300ER aircraft on its route to Shanghai.

Currently the airline offers a single daily flight between Doha and Shanghai so there’s no ambiguity as to which offers the new Qsuites:

QR871 PVG 02:25 – 16:20 DOH

At the time of writing Qatar Airways has only scheduled the refitted 777 to operate the Shanghai route through 31 May 2018 but, if other routes are anything to go by, this will be extended as soon as the airline pushes through its next route updates.

What’s interesting here is that Shanghai may be getting a Qsuite aircraft at the expense of another city.

Right now Qatar Airways flys a Qsuite-equipped 777-300ER aircraft to Seoul but, as of 15 May the Doha – Seoul flight is showing a regular (non-Qsuite) Business Class cabin and the Seoul – Doha flight reverts to a regular Business Class cabin on 16 May.

This may just be a coincidence and we may see more Qsuite service to Seoul wjen Qatar Airways next updates its schedules but, if you’re flying to Seoul on Qatar Airways after 15 May, you are currently scheduled not to have the new cabin on your aircraft.

With Shanghai added to the Qsuite route network this is now the list of confirmed destinations to which Qatar Airways flys the upgraded Business Class cabin:

  • Chicago (ORD)
  • Frankfurt (FRA)
  • London (LHR)
  • New York (JFK)
  • Paris (CDG)
  • Seoul (ICN) **possibly going away**
  • Shanghai (PVG)
  • Washington DC (IAD)
