Starwood is running a couple of promotions right now that offer SPG members the chance to earn some bonus Starpoints. The “Suite Temptations” promotion offers discounted rates for anyone looking to book a suite at one of Starwood’s worldwide properties as well as bonus Starpoints per stay and the “5,000 More Reasons to Stay” could be a nice promotion for those with a lot of hotel nights to book between now and the end of the year.
Starwood Suite Temptations
“Elevate your stay in a suite in North & Latin America”
- The offer is valid for stays booked and completed by 31 December 2016 for rate plan SUITE1PT
- 3,000 Starpoints will be awarded per paid eligible stay.
- 3,000 Starpoints per stay will be credited to the member’s account within 4-6 weeks of the stay posting to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest account.
- Multiple rooms charged to the same member during the same stay will only count as one stay.
- Offers may be restricted to arrivals on certain dates depending on the property
- An eligible stay is defined as one or more consecutive nights paying a qualifying rate in the same hotel regardless of the number of check-in or check-outs that occur.
- Rates are per room, per night, based on single/double occupancy and availability at time of reservation and do not include additional per room, per night charges that may be imposed or state/local taxes.

Starwood’s 5,000 More Reasons to Stay
This offer is predicated on SPG members paying for the room using an American Express cad but, and this is important, it can be ANY American Express Card – it doesn’t have to be a Starwood co-branded Amex.
- Members must register for this offer online with a valid SPG account number at spg.com/5000reasons by December 18, 2016, midnight Eastern Time (ET).
- Card Members who have registered for this offer are eligible to receive a one-time 5,000 Starpoint bonus for fifteen (15) or more consumed, eligible nights between October 18 and December 18, 2016 (the “promotion period”).
- Card Members must book and pay using any American Express® Credit or Charge Card.
- Bookings made prior to the promotion period are eligible for this offer, but only eligible stays consumed during the promotion period will receive a one-time bonus.
- Registered members may earn a maximum of 5,000 bonus Starpoints® during the promotion period with a one room max.
- Bonus Starpoints will post to the registered member’s account within 2–4 weeks after the last qualifying stay posts.
- An Eligible Stay is defined as one or more consecutive nights paying an Eligible Rate at a participating SPG property regardless of the number of check-ins or checkouts that occur and post to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest® account.
- An Eligible Rate is any rate that is eligible to earn Starpoints in the Starwood Preferred Guest program.
For road warriors this should be a nice added bonus on top of the existing Starwood year end “More For You” promotion.
It’s worth remembering that you can now transfer points between SPG and Marriott Rewards so 5,000 Starpoints is effectively also worth 15,000 Marriott Rewards points.
