There were a couple of announcements from BA yesterday that I thought may be of interest to readers in the UK – In 2018 BA will be adding a new summer route to southeastern Spain and those of you in the far north of the UK are about to get a greater number of flights to/from Heathrow.

British Airways Will Fly To/From Almeria In 2018

I’m going to be honest here and say that I headed straight for Google Maps to find out exactly where Almeria is in Spain.

It turns out it’s about two and a quarter hours by car from both Malaga (to its west) and Murcia (to its northeast) and around an hour and three-quarters by car from Granada.

Anyway…with that brief geography lesson over here’s what BA plans to offer:

Flights will be 2x/week and the service will run between 27 March and 27 October 2018

BA420 LHR 13:15 – 17:00 LEI (Tue & Sat)
BA421 LEI 17:50 – 19:35 LHR (Tue & Sat)

BA will operate this route using an Airbus A320 aircraft and flights will depart from Heathrow T5.

Heathrow – Inverness Flight Expansion

British Airways has announced a 30% increase in capacity on its route between London Heathrow and Inverness.

The capacity increase is coming from an extra 3 weekly flights which BA will be introducing from March 2018.

Here’s what BA had to say:

Our new schedule, which will come into operation at the beginning of the summer 2018 flying programme, will mean that on three days of the week, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays,  British Airways will offer customers a double daily service between the capital of the highlands and islands and London.

The new flights are as follows:

BA1470 LHR 18:05 – 19:45 INV (Wed)
BA1470 LHR 17:10 – 18:50 INV (Sat)
BA1470 LHR 17:25 – 19:05 INV (Sun)

BA1471 INV 20:05 – 21:35 LHR (Wed)
BA1471 INV 19:40 – 21:15 LHR (Sat)
BA1471 INV 20:15 – 21:50 LHR (Sun)

These flights are set to commence operations from 25 March 2018.
