This is just a quick round-up of some of the British Airways news I’ve noticed over the past few days (apart from the annoying Avios devaluation for US flights that was announced yesterday).

British Airways has updated its summer schedule and one of the changes that caught my eye is that, from 27 March 2016, the London Heathrow to Toronto route will no longer feature a combination of 777 and 787 aircraft – British Airways are reverting to a wholly 777-200 service.

The schedule looks like this:

BA093 LHR 13:20 – 15:55 YYZ (daily)
BA099 LHR 17:00 – 19:45 YYZ (daily)

BA092 YYZ 18:40 – 06:40+1 day LHR (daily)
BA098 YYZ 21:40 – 09:35+1 day LHR (daily)

Interestingly, British Airways are replacing an aircraft that doesn’t feature a First Class cabin (787-8) with an aircraft that does (777-200) and this is borne out by a quick search on BA.com:

The 777-200s also have more Club World (Business Class) seats than the 787-8 aircraft so I was hoping that this may mean more Business Class award availability on the route – but it still looks very lean.

Another change that’s come through with British Airways’ seasonal reshuffle is a new route between London Heathrow and Billund in Denmark.

BA has announced 11 services/week commencing  3 May 2016 on the following schedule:

BA804 LHR 07:45 – 10:25 BLL (Daily)
BA806 LHR 15:15 – 17:55 BLL (Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri)

BA805 BLL 11:25 – 12:10 LHR (Daily)
BA807 BLL 18:49 – 19:25 LHR (Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri)

Flights will depart/arrive Heathrow Terminal 5 and the route will be serviced by Airbus A319 and Airbus 320 aircraft.

Ok, so Billund is not the most glamorous of new destination but I thought it was worth a mention…hey, it’s the home of LEGO after all! 🙂

Lastly, in this round-up of British Airways news, is a reminder that BA are ceding one of their flights between London and New York to American Airlines.

The new British Airways London – New York daily schedule will look like this from 27 March 2016:

BA117 LHR 08:25 – 11:05 JFK
BA175 LHR 09:50 – 12:20 JFK
BA173 LHR 11:20 – 13:55 JFK
BA177 LHR 13:10 – 15:50 JFK
BA115 LHR 14:35 – 17:20 JFK
BA113 LHR 16:00 – 18:45 JFK
BA179 LHR 18:05 – 20:55 JFK
BA183 LHR 20:05 – 22:45 JFK

BA178 JFK 08:05 – 19:55 LHR
BA112 JFK 18:35 – 06:30+1 day LHR
BA174 JFK 19:00 – 07:00+1 day LHR
BA176 JFK 19:30 – 07:30+1 day LHR
BA116 JFK 2040 – 08:45+1 day LHR
BA172 JFK 21:20 – 09:25+1 day LHR
BA114 JFK 21:50 – 09:55+1 day LHR
BA182 JFK 22:55 – 11:00+1 day LHR

All flights will be serviced by Boeing 747 aircraft with the exception of BA179 & BA182 which will be served by 777-200 aircraft.

The flights that are being taken over by American Airlines will be an evening departure from London Heathrow and a morning departure from JFK:

AA141 LHR 19:00 – 21:55 JFK
AA142 JFK 10:10 – 22:10 LHR

These flights will be served by an American Airlines 777-200 (no news yet if this will be a refurbished aircraft or one of the flying-dinosaurs I flew on last week).
