Qatar Airways appears to have a decent Business Class sale on between Budapest and select cities in Asia which may interest readers looking to bank some cheap AAdvantage Miles or those looking to collect some badly needed Tier Points for British Airways status.

The strange thing about these fares is that they don’t appear to be advertised anywhere on the Qatar Airways website but I’ve checked and they’re definitely available.

Advice

  • Don’t be overly concerned b the fact that the route between Budapest and Doha is operated by a narrow-body Airbus A320. I’ve tried out the Qatar Airways Business Class product on the A320 and it was better than the wide-body product on a lot of carriers I can mention.
  • Be careful not to accidentally book yourself a longer than needed layover in Doha. I’ve seen identically priced itineraries where one has a pleasant 2 – hour layover while the other has a layover of 9+ hours.
  • If you can’t avoid a long layover make sure you make the most of the free hotel option Qatar Airways offers on itineraries with layovers of 8+ hours – [thirstylink linkid=”26417″ linktext=”more details via this link” class=”thirstylink” title=”more details via this link”].

Bottom Line

I’m not going to suggest that any of these fares is spectacular or out of this world…but they are all pretty great value when you consider the quality of the Business Class product we’re talking about.

If you consider that 560 Tier Points (which is what each of these fares will earn you) is over 93% of the way to British Airways Silver Status (oneworld sapphire) that’s pretty good going for under €1,500.

All these fares will also offer a significant number of AAdvantage Elite qualifying Miles and, possibly more importantly, Elite Qualifying Dollars which are harder to earn.

Don’t forget that these fares need to be booked by 16 October 2017
