The image above says it all and Cathay has provided some sample packages to give you an idea what’s on offer on top of the discount from the airline:

Thoughts

I usually balk at Business Class fares that start with the number “3” but, if you take a look at what other airlines are offering during the same period then some of these Business Class fares are pretty competitive.

Take San Francisco – Hong Kong as an example. The Cathay Pacific Business Class fare of $3,187 is easily found…

….and is as good (if not better) than what United Airlines is offering during the same period:

Who would you prefer to fly with, Cathay or United? 🙂

On the Premium Economy side of things I’m very positive about this offer as I think Cathay has a very solid Premium Economy product – I’d be more than happy to pay $1,185 for a trip as long as the one between New York and Hong Kong when I know I’ll be getting a true Premium Economy product.

If you can book a trip on the Cathay Pacific A350 out of San Francisco you’ll have the best Premium Economy cabin the airline offers – there’s more legroom and more seat width than on any of Cathay’s other aircraft.

That doesn’t mean that the other aircraft don’t have good cabins. The 777’s offer Premium Economy with 38″ of pitch and 19.5″ of seat width and that will make for a considerably more pleasant flight than anything you’ll find a few rows further back.

Bottom Line

The Business Class fares are interesting but hardly spectacular so it’s the Premium Economy fares that I’d be most tempted with. They’re less than half price of some of the Business Class fares and they offer the best value in this promotion.
