I wrote about Delta’s newly reconditioned (and reconfigured) Boeing 777-200 aircraft shortly after the aircraft was unveiled to the press. At the time we only had images of the refit courtesy of @AirlineFlyer but now Delta has supplied us with its own official photographs.

As I mentioned in the original post, Delta is currently in the process of refitting all 18 of its 777 aircraft with the same interior as you’ll experience inside the Delta A350 aircraft and the images below are of the first refitted 777-200.

The aircraft offers a Delta One cabin (Business Class), a Delta Premium Select cabin (Premium Economy) and a regular Economy Class cabin.

Delta One (Business Class) Suites

There are 28 Delta One Suites on the 777-200 aircraft so that’s 9 fewer (but much better) Business Class seats than the aircraft offered before the refit.

The cabin is set out in a 1-2-1 layout and the suites offer about as much privacy as you can get in any Business Class Cabin.

What Delta Said:

Designed with an emphasis on exceptional customer comfort and privacy, the award-winning Delta One suite offers each customer a private space accessed by a sliding door with thoughtfully designed personal stowage areas, an advanced in-flight entertainment system, and premium trim and finishes to create an unparalleled business class experience with a comfortable, residential feel.

Sounds good doesn’t it?

Delta Premium Select (Premium Economy)

Delta’s 777 Premium Economy cabin has a 2-4-2 seating arrangement (which is the same as you’ll find in American Airlines’ 777 Premium Economy Class cabin) and houses seats which are 19″ wide and which offer 38″ of legroom.

What Delta said:

The Delta Premium Select cabin reinforces Delta’s commitment to offer customers a range of options, allowing customers to tailor travel to their specific needs by providing additional space (with adjustable head and footrests) and elevated service.

38″ of legroom is pretty good but 19″ of seat width won’t be noticeably more than those in Economy Class will have.

Main Cabin (Economy Class) Boeing 777-200

There’s really good news in this cabin as Delta has decided to keep 9 seats across the aircraft – that one seat less than any of its transatlantic competitors offers in their 777 aircraft.

Legroom in Economy Class will still be as limited as 31″ but when most other airlines are refitting their 777s with 10-across seating and giving passengers less and seat width, going with 9-across seating is a very positive move by Delta.

It’s such a positive move that the Economy Class seats will offer an amazing 18.5″ of seat width which is more than you get on most other 777s worldwide

What Delta Said:

Delta’s retrofitted 777s will feature 18.5″ wide Main Cabin Seats — the widest of Delta’s international fleet. Each customer will also have personal power ports and complimentary premium entertainment on individual seatback screens.

This should be the best long-haul Economy Class cabin offered by any of the US airlines….and it will be a lot better than quite a few others too,

Other Information

The refitted Delta Boeing 777s will all feature:

  • Seatback entertainment screens throughout with Delta Studio and thousands of hours of content (all free)
  • Full-spectrum LED ambient lighting with customized lighting schemes depending on phase of flight
  • GoGo Ku Wi-Fi connectivity as well as free mobile messaging through iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

According to Delta all 18 777-200 aircraft will be refitted with these cabins by the end of 2019.
