I don’t normally post fare alerts for one specific fare on one specific route but I thought I’d make an exception in this case as it’s a pretty good deal. Qatar Airways is currently running a USA – India promotion from all the US cities it serves and while most fares are nothing to get excited about, one really stands out.

The Fares

There are a couple of Qatar Airways Business Class fares out of Chicago that aren’t terrible….

…and three of the fares being advertised out of Dallas aren’t too bad either (comparatively speaking)…

…but it’s out of Atlanta that I think you’ll find the best fare:

Not only is this a very good fare (for travel on a premium airline) but it’s also quite widely available right now. Here are screenshots from ITA Matrix showing what you can expect to find when you search:

Even when the fare rules show that the deal ends in December ITA Matrix shows it continues into January:

What helps make this such a good fare is that all the sectors are flown in the Qatar Airways Airbus A350-900:

Admittedly this isn’t an A350 fitted with the new Qsuites Business Class cabin but the Business Class cabin is still better than any other Business Class cabin you’ll find flying between the US and India.

The cabin offers  1-2-1 all-aisle access seating….

…and the seats themselves are pretty much identical to what you’ll find on the Qatar Airways Dreamliners:

I’ve flown in these seats on a number of occasions and haven’t had any complaints with comfort or the personal space they offer.

Earning Miles

Qatar Airways flights can be credited to the American Airlines AAdvantage program and are a great way of earning a serious number of miles, elite qualifying miles and elite qualifying dollars.

On this routing (of ~18,094 miles) all Business Class passengers can expect to earn the following:

  • ~27,141 AAdvantage Elite Qualifying Miles
  • ~3,619 AAdvantage Elite Qualifying Dollars

Redeemable miles earnings will depend on elite status:

  • Executive Platinum members will earn ~39,807 Redeemable Miles
  • Platinum Pro members will earn ~32,569 Redeemable Miles
  • Platinum members will earn ~28,950 Redeemable Miles
  • Gold members will earn ~25,332 Redeemable Miles
  • Base members will earn ~18,094 Redeemable Miles

That’s a lot of credit towards Elite Status qualification and a lot of redeemable miles for one trip.

Bottom Line

The best fare I’ve posted is, admittedly, only available from one US city (that I’ve found) but it’s still a very good fare indeed…especially when you consider the quality of the airline offering the fare and the number of miles and elite credits that can be earned on this booking.

If I lived anywhere near Atlanta or if I could get to Atlanta reasonably cheaply I’d be seriously considering booking this fare.
