UPDATE: Book soon if you find a fare that works for you – some of the fares below are already selling/sold out.
It looks like SkyTeam has loaded a huge Business Class sale for travel between the US and Europe and, at least on the West Coast, it looks like OneWorld is replying in kind – I love a good fare war!
Great Business Class fares are available from all parts of the US and the available dates range from August right the way through March & April 2017 – so the fares aren’t exactly restrictive.
I’ve split the fares to show departures from different regions:
- West Coast
- East Coast
- Central US
And, while I haven’t shown all of the possibilities (it would take hours!) you’ll find fares to Europe for departures from San Francisco, New York, Houston, Miami and Chicago.
West Coast Business Class Fares To Europe
The great deals from the West Coast appear to be cantered on San Francisco, so, if you’re on the West Coast but nowhere near SF, you’re going to have to take a positioning flight….which you’ll probably want to do when you see the prices:
American Airlines: San Francisco – Rome
Great availability for a lot of months…..
…..but be careful when it comes to the flights you select. You’ll be flying a domestic segment in both directions so do your best to get maximum value out of your fare.
In the example below I haven’t been able to do too well on the outbound because I’m stuck with a 737 aircraft between SFO and Chicago but, on the inbound, I’ve made sure I’m on American’s excellent A321 Transcon Aircraft which has a great Business Class cabin for a domestic flight.
However, given the choice, I wouldn’t fly with American Airlines at all….I’d select the fare that British Airways has posted:
British Airways: San Francisco – Rome
Not only does this fare give you two long-haul journeys in Business Class on a 777 wide-body aircraft with only two very short journeys on smaller aircraft but you can also greatly reduce the price of this already excellent fare.
If you’re a member of AARP (contrary to popular belief there’s no age restriction for joining) and if you click through from their portal, you can get an extra $400 discount on this fare.
On top of that, if you have the Chase BA Credit Card, you can get a further 10% reduction which takes this fare down to a staggeringly low $1,098.66 – for Business Class!
I haven’t been careful with my choices so, in the above example, there are long layovers and airport changes….but you can find flights at this price point without those inconveniences.
Delta: San Francisco – Zurich
Delta has some great fares out of San Francisco too…..
Delta: San Francisco – Frankfurt
And there’s plenty of availability around this price level:
East Coast Business Class Fares To Europe
Delta/Air France: New York (Newark) – Munich
Plenty of availability here too:
Air France/KLM: New York (Newark) – Zurich
Delta/Air France/KLM: New York (JFK) – Dusseldorf
Delta: Miami – Dusseldorf
Central USA Business Class Fares To Europe
Delta: Chicago – Frankfurt
Plenty of availability….
….and the prices aren’t too bad either:
Delta/Air France/KLM: Chicago – Berlin
And finally OneWorld makes an appearance again:
Don’t forget that, just as I showed earlier, you can apply the AARP $400 discount and the Chase BA 10% discount to the fare above to get it down to just $1,044!
Bottom Line
If you do your own searches you’ll find plenty more fares just like these so, if I haven’t posted something that suits your needs, take a look around and you may just spot something.
Remember that you can view these flights simply as a way to get to Europe in a bit more comfort for a very good price. If your preferred destination isn’t available at these great prices then simply book a cheap flight Economy Class flight within Europe to get you where you actually want to go.
