Hilton has opened up registration for its second quarter promotion which is offering double base points on all stays. Almost all properties in the Hilton portfolio are participating (a few properties in China are excluded) so it should be easy enough to rack up a few bonus Hilton points if you have some stays coming up.
Hilton Double Points Promotion – Headline T&Cs
- Offer valid for stays completed May 1, 2018, through August 31, 2018 at any hotel or resort within the Hilton Portfolio excluding Hampton by Hilton Hotels in Mainland China.
- Hilton Honors™ members must first register at HiltonHonors.com/DoublePoints prior to completing a stay within the Promotion Period.
- Registered Hilton Honors members will only receive Bonus Points for nights completed during the Promotion Period, regardless of a check-in date before the Promotion Period begins or a check-out date after the Promotion Period ends.
- Registered Hilton Honors members will earn Double Hilton Honors Bonus Points per stay during the Promotion Period. “Double Points” means you will receive a bonus equal to the number of Base Points earned during a stay.
- There is no limit to the total amount of Bonus Points that may be earned during the Promotion Period with this offer. However, there are restrictions on the amount of Base Points that can be earned on a single stay at certain brands.
- This offer may be terminated without notice.
- Bonus Points do not count toward elite tier qualification.
- Please allow six to eight weeks from completion of your stay for Bonus Points to appear in your account.
- A ‘stay’ is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, whether or not a guest checks out and checks back in again.

Earnings During The Promotion
Outside of promotions Hilton’s full-service properties offer 10 base points per dollar spent while Home2 Suite and Try properties both offer just 5 points/dollar – these earnings are now doubled under the terms of the promotion.
Hilton Honors elite members should be able to do very well here as their earnings at most properties will be as follows:
- Silver Elite – 22 points/dollar
- Gold Elite – 28 points/dollar
- Diamond Elite – 30 points/dollar
I value Hilton Honors points at ~0.4 cents each so, under the promotion, these are the effective rebates for elite members:
- Silver Elite – 8.8%
- Gold Elite – 11.2%
- Diamond Elite – 12.0%
That’s not too shabby for a promotion that requires no effort whatsoever…especially when you add in the added earnings you’d get if you used one of the Hilton credit cards (up to 14 more points/dollar) – more info available via the credit cards link in the menu bar at the top of this page.
Thoughts
Hilton’s current “points unlimited” promotion offers 2,000 bonus points per stay and a bonus 10,000 points after every 5 stays so this rewards those who make short, frequent and cheap stays more than those who spend more with Hilton.
The 2Q Double Points promotion flips that on its head.
With the 2Q bonuses being linked to the number of points earned it’s not a promotion that’s easily game-able for travelers used to spending as little as possible…..but those who spend quite a bit with Hilton should do very well.
Note: If you have a stay that starts before 1 May but ends within the promotion period you will only earn double points on the nights that fall within the promotion’s dates(this will also apply to stays that start within the promotion period but that end outside it).
Bottom Line
Whether you’re frequent guest at Hilton properties or not you should register via this link before you forget.
You may not plan to stay at any Hilton properties between 1 May and 31 August but plans change and you never know when you may end up staying at a Hilton property unexpectedly – it would be a shame to leave points on the table just because you didn’t take 30 seconds to register for a free-to-enter promotion.
