Hot on the heels of the Hilton Winter sale for Europe, the Middle East and Africa comes IHG’s response with an offer of up to 30% off at its various European properties. While the IHG winter sale may not cover as many destinations as the Hilton sale there definitely isn’t a shortage of properties on offer. I can’t say I’ve counted but if you take a look at the participating hotels listing you’ll see what I mean – you can’t say there isn’t a good choice!

The Sale Offers

While I like the broad spectrum of properties that IHG offers, I’m definitely drawn to the InterContinental hotels more than any other. I’ve had great stays at the InterContinental London Park Lane, the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam and the InterContinental Berlin so its great to see 31 InterContinental hotels participating in the winter sale…but they’re rarely where the best deals lie.

If you have a preferred hotel in mind then you could pick it out of the participating hotels listing and check the dates that work best for you but, to get a better idea of what prices are looking like, I prefer to search via location on IHG.com.

London

At £93.60 The Crowne Plaza London City is pretty good value for a central London but you’re most likely to find that rate on weekends.

I found the InterContinental London Park Lane available at £202.50 of a few weekends…and that is advertised as being 32% off the regular rate:

Paris

There are a lot of IHG properties in Paris (mainly Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Extras) but there are soom reasonable deals to be had.

The Hotel Indigo Paris – Opera is good value at €182.70……

….but I think I’d prefer to save a bit more money and stay at the Holiday Inn Paris – Notre Dame for €124.20:

Rome

If you’re looking for an IHG hotel in Rome the best choice is undoubtably Hotel Indigo Rome St George and at €180/night the 28% discount isn’t bad at all.

Vienna

I’m going to admit to not being the greatest fan of the InterContinental Vienna because, although a solid hotel, it’s not one of the better InterContinental properties I’ve stayed at. That being said at €153/night it’s very good value if you’re looking to take in the Christmas markets or just want to visit one of the more traditional European cities around Christmas.

Berlin

I love Berlin in the winter for two reasons: Firstly I love how cheap hotels can get just because it’s cold and secondly it just feels right after having been brought up on all the spy movies centring around this great city – no spy in the movies was ever in Berlin when the sun was out 🙂

The best deal without any doubt is the InterContinental Berlin which I’ve found as low as €100.88/night…..

…but if you’d like to go even cheaper than the Crowne Plaza Podstamer Platz would be my second choice:

Bottom Line

I’ve only picked out a selection of the hotels that I’ve seen on sale that I think are worthy of a visit – I was actually quite surprised how many I found.

If you can travel on weekends you’ll definitely find the better deals but there are some mid-week deals available too.

It’s good to see that this sale runs through to the end of February as we should be getting another IHG Accelerate Promotion appearing around the end of December. Some of these sale prices will be very useful for those of us who get attainable Accelerate targets.
