IHG’s PointBreaks are one of the better and more popular hotel promotions that you’ll find, with IHG selling award nights a sizeable number of its properties for just 5,000 points per night.

The latest full PointBreaks list is live but, although we can now see all the participating properties, booking will not open until Monday for reservations through 31 October 2017.

If you’re new to PointBreaks don’t get your hopes up too much as you’re not going to find properties like the InterContinental Bora Bora Thalasso Spa on the list…but you may still find one or two very good deals.

PointBreaks can be a great deal but you won’t find the IC Bora Bora Thalasso Spa on the list

The luxurious and high demand hotels in IHG’s portfolio don’t appear on the PointBreaks list very often (I can’t see any on this list) but there is usually still good value to be had…..especially if a hotel on the list happens to be somewhere you were planning to visit anyway.

At just 5,000 points per night I’ve heard from readers who have managed to have some fantastic week-long vacations for less than a lot of the properties normally cost for a single night….and that’s where PointBreaks can really shine and why the release of a new list is always greeted with so much anticipation.

Initial Thoughts

I’ve only had a chance to have a quick look through this list and, although it’s very Holiday Inn & Holiday Inn Express heavy, there are a few properties that may be of interest.

United Kingdom – The Holiday Inn London (Croydon) – not exactly central London but still only around 20 minutes by train from the center and very good value for 5,000 per night. Also well placed for anyone flying into or out of London Gatwick airport.

South Africa – Crowne Plaza Johannesburg The Rosebank – This gets pretty solid TripAdvisor reviews and is classified as the 10th besrt hotel (out of 66) in the city….not bad for 5,000 IHG Reward points.

Slovakia – Holiday Inn Zilina – A very pretty part of the world with not that many hotels in the area. Considered one of the better hotels in Zilina and, although rates aren’t usually that high, 5,000 points for a relatively new property can be very good value.

India – Crowne Plaza New Delhi Mayur Vihar Noida – Another property which gets pretty impressive ratings on TripAdvisor so,if youi get a chance, take a look at some of the room photos as they look pretty good for 5,000 points/night
