Welcome To The New Look Traveling For Miles

a cityscape with a building and trees

I’ve been wanting to give Traveling For Miles a new look for some time but I’ve never really had the time to keep the site running and do the wholesale changes TFM actually needed. Recently it became obvious that I would never have enough time to do both so I decided to put TFM on a temporary hiatus and get down to changing a lot of things I wanted to change.

Where To Credit Qatar Airways Business Class Flights If Status Isn’t An Issue?

This year I’m crediting most of my flights to the British Airways Executive Club because I’ve worked out that it’s cheaper for me to earn top-tier status with BA than it is with American Airlines…..but what if you don’t care about status? Where should you credit your flights?

How To Book Cheaper Higher-End Accommodation In Expensive Cities

a group of buildings with a clock

A look at one of the options which may help to make visits to the more expensive cities in the world a little bit more affordable. London, New York and Tokyo are just three examples of great cities to visit but where higher-end accommodation can be budget-bustingly expensive…but it doesn’t always have to be like that.

Emirates Schedules A380 Service To/From Hamburg

From 29 October 2018 Emirates is replacing the 777-300ER aircraft which operates one of its two daily flights to/from Hamburg with a 3-class Airbus A380. This moves sees Hamburg get a considerably better Business Class offering from Emirates as well as a significant increase in the number of Business Class seats available for sale.

Qatar Airways Is Improving Dining In Premium Cabins

Qatar Airways has said that it’s launching “an exciting new on-board dining experience for its Premium customers” which includes a revamp of the airline’s menus and tableware. The changes are being introduced on European routes first and, although not specifically stated in the press release, the implication appears to be that they will then be rolled out to other routes too.

Which Credit Card For Overseas Everyday Spend?

a hand holding a credit card

I have a whole arsenal of cards I can use when traveling outside of the US ranging from the high-end Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card through to the no-fee Hilton Honors Card from American Express but they all have one thing in common – they all earn me no more than 1.5 cents/dollar when I’m not spending in one of the popular bonus categories. So what card to use instead of these?

Joon Is Offering A Service I Doubt Anyone Ever Asked For

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything particularly pointless come out of Joon so it’s not all that surprising that, yesterday, the airline broke its silence when it launched a new tool called “Paperplane”.

Emirates Brings It’s New First Class Cabin To Hamburg

Emirates has been playing around with the aircraft it offers on the Dubai – Hamburg route and, as well as introducing A380 service from October this year, it looks like the airline is introducing its new First Class cabin on the Dubai – Hamburg route too.

Warning: If You’re Booked With Virgin Atlantic Check Your Seat Reservations

Virgin Atlantic has made a large number of changes to the type of aircraft it will be using on flights out of London and Manchester so if you have reserved specific seats on a flight for late this year (or early 2019) I would check to see if those reservations are still in place.

Finally! Singapore Airlines Re-Launches The World’s Longest Commercial Flight

a plane flying in the sky

Ever since Airbus first said that it would build an A350 Ultra Long Range aircraft Singapore Airlines has said that it would like to go back to offering a non-stop service between Singapore and New York (it last flew this route in 2013) and now, finally, it has done just that.

You Can Now Book Hotels With Alaska Miles Through Rocketmiles

Alaska Airlines has announced that it has expanded its existing arrangement with Rocketmiles to allow Mileage Plan members to book hotel nights using their Alaska Miles – is this a good use of miles or is this just another way for an airline to part travelers from their hard earned miles at a very poor rate?

Excellent Aer Lingus Business Class Fares From Dublin To The US (Limited Window)

Aer Lingus has some truly fantastic non-stop Business Class fares on offer for travel between Dublin and a wide variety of US cities but unfortunately the travel window is quite small. Still, if you’re looking to fly from Europe to the US in November/December this year these deals may be of interest.

Finnair Adds A350 Service To Dubai

Finnair is adding its excellent wide-body Airbus A350 to its Helsinki – Dubai route for winter 2018/19 and that means that the Business Class offering goes from a very disappointing short-haul style product to an excellent long-haul Business Class product.

Piecing Together A Big Hawaii Trip – The Planning, The Cost & The Issues

A look at how I planned the flights for a 5 person trip to Hawaii starting from Europe. If I had simply been looking to get everyone to Hawaii as cheaply as possible that would have been ok but this was a lot more complicated than that. A combination of great fares, American AAdvantage Miles, Avios and luck meant that things worked out in the end….but it wasn’t easy!

Cathay Pacific Sale – Hong Kong From $348 (Book By June 8)

Cathay Pacific has launched a short Economy Class sale offering fares between the West Coast and Hong Kong from as low as $348. The fares are available on non-stop flights originating in San Francisco and Los Angeles and, from what I can see, don’t come with any onerous constraints or requirements – you just have to be prepared to book by 8 June 2018.

Book Half-Price Avios Fares With British Airways (Economy Only)

a plane with a red and white tail

British Airways has brought back a promotion it has run in the past and it’s slashing the cost of long-haul Economy Class Avios redemptions in half for travel commencing later this year.

Norwegian Now Lets You Search Destinations By Temperature

I’m a big fan of airline searches that offer a lot of filters. As someone who’s always on the lookout for good deals and good places to visit I appreciate the ability to customise my searches to a degree where what I’m presented with is actually relevant to my needs.
