Friends of mine stayed at the new Intercontinental London O2 over the weekend and, while I haven’t yet had a chance to see the hotel, they were kind enough to email me a few pictures from their stay.

The InterContinental London O2 opened at the end of 2015 and was one of the few high-end InterContinental hotels not to increase in cost when IHG announced the increase cost in award nights at the end of January. That means that you can still book the property for 50,000 IHG Rewards Points per night:

While the random date I selected above wouldn’t make for a great use of IHG Rewards points (the cash rate is reasonable enough) there are plenty of dates where 50,000 points for a stay at this hotel can be a big money saver.

As it happens, on this occasion, my friends had made the most of a recent IHG Accelerate promotion and used their free night from that to stay at the property.

Anyway, as I said, they’ve shared a few pictures with me of the room and the 18th floor bar so I thought I’d post them on the blog to give any potential guests an idea of what they can expect:

And you get a very good idea how convenient the Intercontinental London O2 is for the O2 Arena when you look down from the 18th floor…..

My friends seem to have enjoyed their visit to the property although they did mention that parking was a staggering £50/$70 for 24 hours which is a bit steep considering this isn’t exactly central London.

It’s worth nothing that neither of them have status with IHG but the InterContinental did upgrade them one level upon check-in…which I though was a nice touch.

Anyone else visited the Intercontinental London O2? Any thoughts?
