Hilton launched its Curio Collection in June 2014 and the Tapestry Collection in early 2017 in an attempt to compete better at the boutique end of the hotel spectrum. Both collections represent properties similar to what you’ll find in Marriott’s Autograph Collection and, unlike the majority of Hilton properties, they’re more independent of the overall Hilton brand.

The Curio Collection is already slated to get 3 new European properties in March of this year and North America isn’t being left behind as a further five US/Costa Rica properties have already opened or are set to open in 2018.

Wilmington, North Carolina

This property is still currently called the Hilton Wilmington Riverside (next to Cape Fear) but, following a  $8.5m facelift in 2018, it’s expected to rebrand as a Tapestry Collection property.

The hotel is currently taking reservations under its old name and, as Hilton hasn’t provided any information other than to say that it will be a Tapestry Collection property in “early 2018”, I suspect that the renovation works may be taking longer than anticipated.

San Jose, Costa Rica

This was once a Choice International property and has sat within Choice’s Ascent collection since 2014. The Gan Hotel Costa Rica hasn’t yet joined the Hilton portfolio but is taking reservations (as a Hilton property) from 23 July onwards.
