Priority Pass has launched its annual Black Friday sale that runs through midnight on 2 December. All three membership options are discounted with the price of Standard membership reduced by 40% and Standard Plus & Prestige memberships reduced by 25%. If you don’t have Priority Pass membership through a credit card then this could be a good time to look into it.

Membership pricing will vary depending on your country of residence and there are three levels of membership you can purchase – Standard, Standard Plus and Prestige – and the price increases through the levels.

Standard members pay a low annual fee and then pay a separate fee each time they access one of the lounges in the network.

Standard Plus members pay a higher annual fee but get their fist ten visits free. Any further lounge visits come at the same cost as those for a Standard member.

Prestige members pay the highest annual fee but can then access all the lounges without the need for any further payments.

The system works quite well because it allows travelers to pick the membership option that best matches their travel patterns – it’s unlikely an infrequent traveler would want to purchase Prestige membership and it’s unlikely that a very frequent traveler would find the Standard membership economical.

Is It Worth It?

Priority Pass now has over 1,000 airport lounges world wide so its unlikely that you’ll struggle to find a lounge to use….the question is how often do you travel?

The value of Priority Pass will vary from person to person depending on travel patterns and the only way to know if its right for you is to work out just how often you think you’d use a lounge and see if you think you’d be getting value out of your membership.

The most economical way to get Priority Pass membership is though a credit card  – in the US cards like Citi Prestige and Chase Sapphire Reserve offer the better memberships while in the UK the Amex Platinum card is probably the best option – but if you don’t have one of those cards access to Priority Pass lounges can make travel a lot more comfortable.
