Priority Pass is the world’s largest independent airport lounge program that gives members access to a worldwide network of lounges – for a fee.

Members of the Priority Pass program get access to over 850 lounges in over 120 countries and 400 cities – so they probably have a lounge in an airport near you. It’s a very good way for travelers to get access to some comfort at the airport without paying for a premium cabin and without having to fly tens of thousands of miles a year for airline status.

I’ve written in detail about the Priority Pass program here so that may be a good starting point for you if you’d like to know more.

Priority Pass have brought out a Black Friday/Cyber Monday promotion that is offering up to 40% off the membership options.

Priority Pass Black Friday

The biggest discount (40%) is on the Standard membership with the Standard Plus and Prestige memberships being discounted by 25%.

As you can see from the banner above the differences between the three membership options are pretty clear:

Standard – $59 annual membership and the member and each guest pays $27 per entry

Standard Plus – $186 annual membership which gets the member 10 free visits with all subsequent visits costing $27. Guests do not benefit from free entry and must pay $27/visit.

Prestige – $299 annual membership which gets the member unlimited free visits throughout the membership year. Guests do not benefit from free entry and must pay $27/visit.

The promotion runs for one week from 27 November to 4 December 2015.

Priority Pass membership comes as one of the benefits of the American Express Platinum card but, as that comes with a $450 annual fee, a stand-alone Priority Pass membership may be more economical for some.

Even if you have airlines status there will be times when your airline of choice doesn’t have a club/lounge at an airport you’re visiting and that’s when Priority Pass can comes into.

The best way to figure out if membership would be any use to you is to see which airports you frequent the most and then check them against the list of available lounges here. If you visit a few Priority pass locations than this could possibly be for you….but make sure then math works in your favor.

If you’re not a regular traveler then membership of a lounge program is probably not for you but, if you travel with any frequency, access to a lounge can be a very nice place to start a vacation trip or to get some work done before a flight. I never used to need a lounge before a trip but I’ve got soft in my older age and I can’t do without one now 🙂
