Qatar Airways has recently been adding to its European network and, to celebrate some its new destinations, the airline is offering some enticing looking deals from these European cities to Asia and Africa (via Doha).

Here are some of the better fares on offer:

Note: The Qatar Airways page will price the fares in Czech Koruna but I’ve shown the fares below in Euros to make comparison easier.

  • Cape Town – €1,330
  • Bangkok – €1,340
  • Phuket – €1,477
  • Hong Kong – €1,477
  • Hanoi – €1,495
  • Bali – €1,540

Why I Like These Fares

All these fares have three things in common:

  • They’re good value – Great news if you would like to visit these cities
  • They’re for flights over long distances – Great for American Airlines AAdvantage earnings
  • They all route via Doha – Great for British Airways Executive Club tier point earnings

That all adds up to a selection of good deals that will also earn flyers a lot of miles in the American Airlines AAdvantage program and a lot of Avios and Tier Points in the British Airways Executive Club.

Taking Sarajevo – Shanghai as an example:

Note: Avios earnings are approximate as the Sarajevo-Doha route is not yet loaded in the BA Avios calculator

For €1,114 you can earn:

  • 20% of the elite qualifying miles required for American Airlines top-tier status
  • 93% of the Tier Points needed for British Airways Silver status (oneworld sapphire)

If you have AAdvantage status the redeemable mileage earning will be even higher.

Taking Prague – Cape Town as an example:

Cape Town

Again you would earn 560 Tier points (93% of the way to BA Silver status) and again you would earn approximately 20% of the miles needed to qualify for American Airlines Executive Platinum status.

Choose Routes With The Best Business Class Cabins

Last week I ran a post in which I went through the various Business Class cabins that Qatar Airways offers on its aircraft – some are a lot better than others – so you should use this to check which aircraft you think you would prefer to fly.

The route I have my eyes on right now is Guangzhou as it’s a city I’d like to visit and it’s served by a Qatar Airways A380 from Doha – a great Business Class cabin and it has very nice bar onboard.

Bottom Line

Qatar Airways operates its A320 aircraft on both the Prague – Doha and Sarajevo – Doha route but, as I showed in my review of the Business Class cabin on this aircraft when I flew between Pisa and Doha, that really shouldn’t put you off – it’s a more comfortable Business Class cabin than you get on a lot of widebody aircraft.

Some of these fares are exceptional values while the others are just very, very good indeed. If you’re interested in visiting any of the cities I’ve listed above you’ll be hard pressed to beat these fares and you certainly won’t travel in a better Business Class cabin for these prices.

Visit QatarAirways.com for more excellent Business Class fares.
