Back on the 8th of March Qatar Airways used the ITB Berlin exhibition to announce the arrival of its new and revolutionary Business Class (the QSuite) to the world, on 20 June the world got its first view of the airline’s new product and on the 24th of June the first 777-300ER fitted with the QSuite flew into London Heathrow.

A few bloggers have been lucky enough to have tried this product already (I’m most definitely not one of them) but, until the product is brought to the US, I suspect most readers won’t have too many opportunities to try it out. Well that time may be drawing nearer.

We already know that Paris and New York will be the next two destinations to get the QSuite treatment but, up until now, there has been no real indication of a timeline. Qatar Airways is fitting the QSuite cabin to one aircraft per month so this isn’t exactly a speedy process…..but a comment made in a press release yesterday seems to have given a timeframe away.

Qatar Airways is currently celebrating 10 years of flights to the US and, in a press release discussing these celebrations, this one line stood out (bolding is mine):

To further strengthen its position as an industry leader, Qatar Airways has just launched the groundbreaking QSuite to London and will bring the patented product to New York City in September.

Clearly this doesn’t appear to be an official announcement as there’s no mention of a specific date…but it’s the only piece of news I’ve seen which narrows down the timeframe for the QSuite’s arrival in the US.

Being a fan of thoroughness I’ve checked the seat map for every 777-300ER flight Qatar Airways is scheduled to fly in to New York in September and none of them show the latest QSuite layout….so nothing appears to have been loaded into the systems yet.

I guess now we just have to wait and see if we get any more information over the next weeks and days – watch this space.
