Hilton’s latest promotion will be starting in a few days time so, as its likely to be one of the better hotel promotions this fall and as it’s free to sign up, you should make sure you’re registered for it whether or not you think you’ll be staying at Hilton properties this fall.

Here’s what you need to know about the Hilton Fall 2018 promotion:

Registered Hilton Honors members will earn Double Points per stay at non-luxury and non-resort properties and Triple Points per stay at luxury or resort properties during the promotion period. There is no limit to the total amount of Bonus Points that may be earned during the Promotion Period with this offer.

The promotion is valid on stays made between 10 September 2018 and 3 January 2019.

Luxury properties (3x points) are defined as properties belonging to the Waldorf Astoria and Conrad brands as well as select resort properties. The full list of triple points earning properties can be accessed via this link.

The Hilton map appears to show 191 properties which are eligible for triple points….

…but the page on which the map sits claims that there are 245 properties at which Hilton Honors members will earn triple points so there is a little bit of confusion within the information supplied by Hilton (I suspect that the 245 number is correct).

The only properties excluded completely from this promotion are the Hampton properties in mainland China.

It’s worth remembering that Hilton Honors members will only receive bonus points for nights completed during the promotion period. What this means is that, if a stay straddles the start or end dates of the promotion, the nights of that stay which fall outside of the promotion dates will not earn double or triple points.

Earnings

a blue rectangular sign with white text

It’s only base point earnings which are doubled or tripled so this is what the earnings rates will look like at various Hilton brands:

  • Waldorf Astoria, Conrad & select resorts: 30 Hilton Honors points/dollar
  • Home2 Suites and Tru: 10 Hilton Honors points/dollar
  • All other Hilton brands: 20 Hilton Honors points/dollar

if you have Hilton Honors status you’ll still earn elite bonus points as usual and if you pay for your stay with a Hilton Honors co-branded credit card you’ll earn even more.

Holders of the Hilton Honors Aspire credit card get automatic Diamond status in the Honors program so, assuming they pay for their stay with that same card, they can earn an impressive number of points in this promotion:

At triple point properties:

  • 10 points/dollar base earnings
  • 20 points/dollar promotion earnings
  • 10 points/dollar Diamond status earnings
  • 14 points/dollar Aspire credit card earnings

That’s a total of 54 Honors points/dollar.

At most double point properties:

  • 10 points/dollar base earnings
  • 10 points/dollar promotion earnings
  • 10 points/dollar Diamond status earnings
  • 14 points/dollar Aspire credit card earnings

That’s a total of 44 Honors points/dollar.

Personally I only have the fee-free Hilton Honors credit card (it’s the card I prefer) but I get Hilton Gold status courtesy of my Amex Platinum credit card so my earnings will still be pretty strong.

I have a stay at a Conrad property coming up later this month and this is what I can expect to earn:

  • 10 points/dollar base earnings
  • 20 points/dollar promotion earnings
  • 8 points/dollar Gold status earnings
  • 7 points/dollar Aspire credit card earnings

That’s a total of 45 Honors points/dollar

Bottom Line

So far we’ve seen what bonus points Hyatt is offering through to the middle of December, we know what IHG’s latest promotion looks like and now Hilton has enlightened us as to what we can expect to be offered when we stay at its properties through the beginning of January.

Hyatt’s promotion is very disappointing, IHG’s offering is good for some and dismal for others so, as I don’t expect much at all from the Marriott/Starwood behemoth, the Hilton fall promotion is probably the best all-round promotion we’ll see this time around….and that’s something I seem to find myself typing more and more frequently.
