I recently wrote about a visit to the SilverKris Lounge in Hong Kong where Joanna and I used the First Class area courtesy of our Singapore Airlines Suites Class booking. The SilverKris Business Class lounge shares and entrance with the First Class facility so, while I was there, I took the opportunity to take a look around the Business Class area and to take some pictures.

I’m not going to go into great detail about each picture as, hopefully, they pretty much speak for themselves…but I will add notes where I think they may be needed.

The entrance to the lounge is one level down from where you exit passport control and security and is located near Gate 15.

After checking in with the agents at the entrance you’re presented with a long hallway….

…with what I assume is an overflow area on the right:

At the end of the hallways is a the entrance to the First Class area on the left and, straight ahead, it the rest of the Business Class lounge starting with a staffed bar:

Behind the bar is the main dining area….

…and the main food service area (more on the food later):

The lounge’s seating area spreads out to the right of the bar and the dining area….

…and, when you get towards the end of this area, you’ll find a series of work pods that resemble Business Class suites on an aircraft (without the lie-flat bed):

All the pods offer universal power outlets and 2 USB ports so you shouldn’t go short of options if you need to charge your devices.

At the very end of the lounge is a final seating area:

Apart from the newspaper and magazine stand…..

……the only other major thing left to mention is the food.

The lounge offers a buffet of hot and cold food that anyone can help themselves to.

The hot selection include…

  • Baked broccoli with cream cheese sauce
  • Sautéed conchiglie with vegetable and tomato sauce

To top it all of there was also a selection of Häagen-Dazs ice cream (which was replenished shortly after I took this picture).

I’ve already mentioned the bar but, for those looking for non-alcoholic refreshments, there are tea/coffee making facilities….

Thoughts

As Business Class lounges go this one isn’t bad at all. The seating is comfortable and the food was good and plentiful.

The lounge does offer shower facilities although I didn’t get to see them on this visit as there was a line of people waiting and I didn’t really have the patience or inclination to wait to check them out…plus I really didn’t want to take time away from someone who actually need to use the showers.

It was interesting to walk around this Business Class lounge after having spend some time in the First Class area next door as there really isn’t all that much difference….in fact the ambiance in this Business Class area was probably nicer as the space felt less claustrophobic (despite there not being any windows in here either).

Overall this is a perfectly adequate Business Class lounge whose primary failing is the lack of natural light. For a short-ish visit this is fine but for longer visits I’d have to go for a walk in the terminal to catch a glimpse of the outdoors.
