SPG Moments is a pretty successful innovation from Starwood in that it allows SPG members to use their points balances to purchase experiences they may not be able to purchase otherwise – they may be way too expensive to be bought with cash or tickets are simply too hard to come by – now one of the year’s big sporting occasions is again being offered by SPG Moments.

Back in 2014 I spent a grand total of 45,000 Starpoints for two tickets to watch Queen & Adam Lambert perform at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The 45,000 Starpoints got Joanna and I into the Starwood box (before the concert) and into Starwood’s box seats at Madison Square Garden – it was a fantastic event to be at and there was no way we would have been able to score tickets like these without SPG Moments.

US Open Tennis Tickets

The point of SPG moments is to allow Starwood members to redeem points for experiences they otherwise may not get to have and, next week, one such experience will open up for sale – the US open Tennis tournament.

There will be more than one package and more then one type of package available for members to bid on (SPG moments are run as either auctions or straight out sales – while my Queen tickets were a regular sale US Open tickets are sold as an auction).

The SPG Auction Page can be accessed via this link and you’ll find details of all the US Open Tennis packages there.

On offer will be:

Arthur Ashe Stadium Courtside Seat tickets:

Louis Armstrong Courtyard Seat tickets:

These really are seats that, for most of us, are impossible to get hold of…and that’s what’s makes this all the more special.

Prices for these packages have historically started at around 25,000 Starpoints each (for some packages the prices goes up quite steeply from there) and the auctions generally last through the first week of August.

Right now, although tickets aren’t being auctioned yet, you can use the SPG Moments page to set a reminder for next week (when the packages go to auction) – if you have a healthy stash of Starpoints this could be a great way for you spend some and get a fantastic experience out of them.
