You won’t get too many people disagreeing with the statement that the Qatar Airways Qsuite Business Class product is the best Business Class product in the world right now but, up until not that very long ago, there weren’t many routes on which the Qsuites were actually offered.

Fortunately the world’s best Business Class product isn’t quite so scarce anymore and it just got even less scarce.

Sydney/Canberra Get The Qsuite Treatment

When Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker visited Australia to celebrate the inaugural Qatar Airways flight to Canberra he used the opening press conference to confirm that Australia would be getting the Qsuites Business Class cabin in June.

Well, Australia won’t be getting Qsuites service in June….. but it will in July.

Between 21 July and 27 October 2018 the Qatar Airways 777-300ER which flies one of the airline’s two daily routes between Doha and Sydney is schedule to operate with the Qsuite Business Class cabin (the first Qsuite flight from Australia will depart 22 July).

The 777 then continues on to Canberra

Here’s the schedule:

QR906 DOH 09:25 – 06:40+1 day SYD 09:20+1 day – 10:20+1 day CBR
QR907 CBR 12:35 – 13:35 SYD 15:05 – 23:40 DOH

And here’s ExpertFlyer showing the 777-300ER with the Qsuites Business Class cabin scheduled for 21 July 2018:

The second flight that Qatar Airways operates between Doha and Sydney continues to be operated by an Airbus A380.

Qsuites Come To Munich

I have to take my hat off to Al Baker here as, when he used the 2018 ITB Travel Fair to announce that Berlin and Munich would both have Qsuites service “by the end of the summer” I was more than a little sceptical….but he’s proven me half wrong.

Qatar Airways has been leasing a couple of LATAM’s A350 aircraft to operate its Doha – Munich route but, from 1 August 2018, it will begin replacing these aircraft with its own Boeing 777-300ER aircraft [HT: Airline Route]

That’s probably not particularly interesting to most people but what should be interesting is that both of the Boeing 777-300ERs that Qatar Airways will be flying to/from Munich will have the Qsuite Business Class cabin.

Here’s the currently posted schedule:

QR059 DOH 01:50 – 07:00 MUC (Daily)
QR057 DOH 08:05 – 13:15 MUC (Daily)

QR060 MUC 09:45 – 16:20 DOH (Daily)
QR058 MUC 16:55 – 23:30 DOH (Daily)

As things stand this is when you can expect to see Qsuite service on this route:

Flights QR59/60 are scheduled to get a Qsuite-equipped 777-300ER aircraft between 1 August 2018 and 27 October 2018.

Flights QR57/68 are scheduled to get a Qsuite-equipped 777-300ER aircraft between 16 August 2018 and 30 March 2019.

Thoughts

This is all very good news indeed – the more routes on which we’re offered the Qatar Airways Qsuites the better.

Don’t read too much into the end dates of the Qsuite services as 27 October is the end of the official 2018 “summer season” and 30 March is the end of the official “winter season” so Qatar Airways may be just using these dates as place holders.

Kudos (of sorts) to Akbar Al Baker who told us that Australia and Munich would get Qsuites service this summer – that promise has been kept if not quite on the timeline suggested and there’s still time for Qatar Airways to make good on Al Baker’s promise of Qsuites service to/from Berlin before the summer is out.
